Even the FSA Store has questionable items that are being marketed as potentially eligible. So, it is important that you contact SABC before purchasing items that are out of the norm. As IRS Notice, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/newsroom\/irs-alert-beware-of-companies-misrepresenting-nutrition-wellness-and-general-health-expenses-as-medical-care-for-fsas-hsas-hras-and-msas#:~:text=WASHINGTON%20%E2%80%94%20Amid%20concerns%20about%20people,expenses%20under%20the%20tax%20law\">IR-2025<\/a> points out \u201cSome companies mistakenly claim that notes from doctors based merely on self-reported health information can convert non-medical food, wellness and exercise expenses into medical expenses, but this documentation actually does not.\u201d So be aware and contact our office should you have questions.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that many of the following items are generally not allowed even with a doctor\u2019s letter of necessity:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exercise equipment<\/strong> \u2013 that is for general well-being and not reimbursable under a flexible spending account. There are rare exceptions, but you must obtain approval from our office before purchasing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vitamins and minerals \u2013<\/strong> Vitamins and minerals are generally considered items for general well-being and are in most cases not reimbursable under an FSA plan, even with a doctor\u2019s letter of medical necessity. There are some situations and conditions that require vitamins treatment that may be allowed. Please contact our office before purchasing the item for approval.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GYM memberships \u2013<\/strong> Gym memberships, even with a doctor\u2019s letter, are generally never eligible.
